SPG Automobiles has officially inaugurated a new electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Tsarang, Upper Mustang, under the Mustang–Jomsom–Korala Highway. The station was inaugurated today by Damodarkunda Rural Municipality Chairperson, Mr. Lopsang Chomfel Bista.
Located at an altitude of over 3,500 meters above sea level, this marks the highest-altitude EV charging station installed by Omoda & Jaecoo in Nepal, significantly easing the journey for travelers commuting towards Upper Mustang and Korala border. Until now, the absence of charging infrastructure beyond Jomsom forced travelers to leave their EVs behind before continuing their journey.

Speaking at the inauguration, Mr. Krishna Pokharel, General Manager – Service & After Sales at SPG Automobiles, highlighted the technical challenges: “Since Nepal Electricity Authority has not extended a 33 kV transmission line to Tsarang, a basic charging station has been installed for the time being. This initiative was made possible after consultations with local representatives and stakeholders.”
The establishment of this charging station is expected to not only enhance mobility in the region but also create local employment opportunities and contribute positively to environmental sustainability.
With this milestone, SPG Automobiles and Omoda & Jaecoo continue to pioneer sustainable mobility solutions in Nepal, bringing reliable EV infrastructure to even the most remote and high-altitude regions of the country.
